Queenstown is a great hub in the south of New Zealand with plenty of extreme activities to choose from. I opted for a less extreme but equally fun bike tour along the Kawarau River, all the way to the famous Kawarau suspension bridge, where you can see tourists plunge into the gorge on a bungee rope every few minutes. Compared to what people who have visited Queenstown 10 or more years ago it apparently sadly felt victim to overtourism, as I found the town's city centre to feel like any generic touristy place plastered with hotels and fast-food chains.
